Graphic Recording

What is graphic recording?

In a group gathering, whether virtual or in-person, a graphic recorder synthesizes the information being presented and exchanged into a visual format by using words, graphics and illustration. My visual summary captures key points, recurring themes, and highlights of the conversation and reflects it all back to the people assembled.

Why hire a graphic recorder?

Sometimes, it’s challenging to remember the content of large-group discussions. A visual capture can show you ideas and complex discourse, and even emotions. With this visual, people engage more deeply with the material and it helps them reflect on what was discussed, and can help bring consensus on the group’s goals. Employees and stakeholders feel more invested in their organization’s initiatives.

Companies and organizations around the world are seeing how visuals make meetings, keynotes, panel discussions, conferences, board retreats, off-sites, and brainstorming sessions more interesting and productive. Having a graphic record of conversations helps people connect with each other and content, can provide clarity, and encourages collaboration.

Did you know?

A person who does graphic recording is sometimes referred to as scribe (scribing), sketchnoter (sketchnoting), visual notetaker (notetaking), live illustrator (live illustration), or graphic facilitator (graphic facilitation).

On-Site OR Virtual

Live Draw Events

I love animating the public space at big group events by creatively drawing and hand-lettering responses to a prompt put forth by the event host – wall-sized and in real time.

When I’m drawing in a high-traffic area at your conference, meeting or social gathering, it engages and captivates every attendee who passes by. It fosters connection within your organization and inspires participants.

The visuals are perfect for:

• Sharing on social media, officially and organically

• Helping to include people who are unable to attend

• Displaying a tangible artifact after the event has ended

You may have heard of this type of visual referred to as a knowledge wall, social interaction wall, sharing activation, on-site illustration, live illustration, social listening mural or an experiential drawing board. But whatever you like to call it, I love to do it!

About Me

I’ve enjoyed years of fun and interesting work as a graphic designer and art director, collaborating with photographers and food stylists doing photo direction for a major food company, and designing unique displays and marketing materials for smaller companies and entrepreneurs.

But when I discovered this field of “visual practice,” I felt like I had arrived home. I love lettering and drawing, and being able to use my skills to help others achieve their goals is an awesome feeling!

A little more about me:

• My book club has been together for almost 33 years, almost as long as my husband and I have been married!

• I love to travel (so I don’t mind traveling for a gig).

• I’m a member of the Colleagues of Calligraphy which is where I learn more about making and loving letters.
